Pyramid Residential Care Centre Facilities

The Pyramid Residential Care Centre’s facilities have been designed to provide a safe and fully inclusive environment for residents. To maximise socialising and community engagement with other residents, family members and friends, we have a weekly program of activities. These include bingo, exercise, sing-a-longs, movies, games and outings. A monthly activities calendar is distributed to residents, advising of activities and planned social events.

Onsite Facilities & Services

Our onsite facilities include 76 high care needs beds, in private rooms with en suite facilities and a courtyard. The rooms are well maintained and kept clean and tidy. Our focus is to provide a comfortable, inclusive homelike environment; this is achieved with lots of open, communal spaces where residents are welcome to come and go. These include gardens and recreational spaces, outdoor gazebos and undercover areas.

To allow residents to maintain community interests, we also have a media room stocked with current newspapers and books. We provide access to televisions and radio, telephones and a postal service. We also arrange visits from the Red Cross and a local hair dresser, library books, taxis and a bus service. Services of various religions are held at Pyramid Residential Care Centre each week.

Doctors

Residents must have their own private doctors, to attend to personal health needs. Gordonvale Family Medical Centre has doctors who provide services to this facility. If family members are unable to arrange transport to medical appointments in Gordonvale, we can assist with this at a rate of $10 per visit. If appointments are required further afield than Gordonvale, private transport must be arranged by the resident. If this is not possible, a fee for service can be arranged through us at $50 per hour cost. Local GPs visit the facility twice per week and do rounds to visit their regular patients, once per month.

Allied Health

Pyramid Residential Care Centre is supported by the services of several Allied Health professionals, including Physiotherapy, Speech Pathology, Dietician and a Podiatrist.

Our residents are encouraged, when able, to continue with all previous activities and therapies. They are free to come and go as they would at home, provided this does not put them or others at serious risk. In addition to the onsite services and facilities, Pyramid Residential Care Centre arranges a regular program of offsite excursions and social outings to places in and around Gordonvale, Cairns and surrounding areas.
